My name is Gregg Hollmann, also known as “DJ Gregg Ambient.” I’m a lifelong music lover and have worked as a professional disc jockey for the past twenty years

So, what does this DJ know about craft cocktails? In 2014, I attended a networking event for wedding professionals and won a free two-hour mixology session in the silent auction. Better yet, the session was with acclaimed cocktail mixologist and author Warren Bobrow, aka “The Cocktail Whisperer.” Attendees at our intimate tasting party immensely enjoyed Warren’s concoctions that were focused on rum and gin cocktails. He transformed our dining room table into a science lab, and we loved it! Who knew that mixing premium spirits, fresh citrus, sweeteners, and cocktail bitters could be so fun and delicious?

Our tasting party with the Cocktail Whisperer piqued my curiosity in learning more about cocktails. Before long, I was mixing craft cocktails and visiting some of the country’s top cocktail haunts, many located in my backyard in New Jersey and New York City. Reactions to my homemade cocktails were positive, with comments like “best Old Fashioned ever,” or “Wow! When’s your next cocktail party?” Encouraged by that feedback, I pressed ahead, soaking up as much information on the art and science of cocktail mixology. At some point, I began recognizing the parallels between mixing cocktails and mixing music.
